10 Apps Every Baseball Fan Should Have

Spring has officially sprung. The 2015 Major League Baseball season is in full swing. In celebratration of America’s pastime, we’ve come up with a list of ten cool apps you’ll need to get you through the season (and hopefully into the playoffs). And speaking of cool apps, we actually develop them. That’s one of the many things we do. So if you’re looking to have an app created to help grow your business, we can help. Because remember, if you build it, they will come.

Here are the ten apps every baseball fan should have to enhance their 2015 season:

#1. Track every pitch and every swing with MLB.com At Bat.

This is the official app of Major League Baseball. The free basic version gives you all the scores, breaking news, and player stats, as well as access to watch a free “game of the day. If you upgrade to premium ($2.99/mo.), you’ll get real-time box scores, pitch by pitch tracking and the ability to listen to live local radio broadcasts.

#2. Be a player with ESPN Fantasy Baseball.

If you have an ESPN Fantasy Baseball Team, then you need this free app. Add players, drop players, trade players. Keep up to date with real-time scoring and fantasy news. Hear from the experts with videos and Tweets from ESPN’s fantasy analysts. Most importantly, you’ll be able to talk trash as you post messages to your league’s message board.

#3. Score great seats with StubHub.

StubHub is the go-to app for scoring tickets to any game – especially those that are sold out. Here’s a hint: if you want to get a really great seat at a decent price, consider buying a single ticket. You may not be sitting with your best bud, but you’ll probably have a better view of the game. Besides, you can always meet up with your bud for beer runs.

#4. Be prepared for rain delays with The Weather Channel.

Your game day outfit planning should start with a quick check of The Weather Channel’s app. Find out if you’ll need to take a sweater for those early spring and late fall night games, or if you need to pack an umbrella (and a bit of patience) for any potential rain delays.

#5. Find an affordable parking spot near the stadium with ParkWhiz.

We all know what a hassle parking can be at any major sporting event. The ParkWhiz app allows you to reserve a park ahead of time and guarantee a great rate. You can compare parking options and pay directly from the app. So you can save your cash for tipping the beer guy.

#6. For those afternoon games, avoid sunburn (and skin cancer!) with Ultraviolet UV Index.

While it’s nice to enjoy a sunny day at the ballpark, it’s the opposite of nice to go home with a painful and potentially dangerous sunburn. Use the Ultraviolet UV Index app to determine what level of sunscreen you’ll need for the day. Here’s a tip: keep an extra bottle of sunscreen in your car or bag just in case you forget to apply it before you leave your house. Never let yourself go unprotected.

#7. Plan your concessions attack with Hungry Fan.

It’s the bottom of the 4th, your team is losing, and you’re looking for a frozen concoction to help you hang on. The Hungry Fan app can direct you to your destination in no time. View menus and pricing for a variety of concessions in your favorite stadium and find out exactly where you need to go to get your food & drink fix. Now you can spend less time walking around trying to find something to eat and more time cheering your team to victory.

#8. Crowdsource your baseball season experience with Beyond the Box.

The Beyond the Box app combines Twitter and Instagram feeds from fans, players, teams and sportscasters. You’ll feel like you’re part of the action with real time images from every Major League Baseball game. You can personalize your feed for your favorite team and get Tweets and Instagram photos from your favorite players instantly.

#9. Explore all the major league ballparks past and present with Ballpark Envi.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could win the lottery, quit our day jobs, and spend the season visiting all the ballparks around the country? Until you land the winning Powerball ticket, you can actually take a virtual tour of major league stadiums with the Ballpark Envi app. Not only do you get access to all the current American and National League ballparks, you can also take a step back in history to see the original Yankee Stadium, Ebbets Field and more.

#10. Relive your childhood with the Topps® BUNT baseball card app.

Feeling nostalgic for baseball cards and a hard stick of gum with flavor that last for a millisecond? Then you might want to experience the modern day way to trade baseball cards. With the Topps® BUNT app, you acquire and trade cards and earn points based on your particular players’ performance throughout the season. (Gum not included.)

So, what are you waiting for? Download these apps and get out there and enjoy America’s pastime. Here’s to baseball, hot dogs, and Apps.
